Vicious Little Varmits Transformed!Jun 26, 2010 This little book has done nothing less than changed our desperate dwelling back to the happy home it once was before we took in two 10 month old tuxedo terrors. Our once expensive furniture was turned to shredded tatters, the cupboards permanently duct taped shut to protect valued collector's pieces, and our beautiful drapes hanging like ragged trash in front of the limp remains of window screens. In a few weeks our house was defiled and vandalized beyond anything one could ever imagine outside a revolution ravaged village in the last days of Tsarist Russia. We dreamed of driving our new family members into the early morning darkness and dropping them in the night deposit box of the SPCA, steeled to the cries as we drove quickly away. But we felt we had made a commitment and were determined to suffer our fate. Thanks to this book, we have been saved and our cats have become loved, angelic babies who adore us. The affection is overwhelming and it is mutually shared. This book has worked its magic and through the techniques described we have become one big deliriously happy family. Our deepest thanks to the author for not only giving us our lives back, but for enhancing them beyond comprehension.

A little disappointedApr 09, 2010 I had read one of Karen Pryor's clicker training books but was trying to train a cat and she provided lots of good generic clicker training guidance, but I needed something more specific to a cat. I read lots of reviews before ordering this book and most people were satisfied-it got better reviews than Karen Pryor's cat training book so I went ahead and got it. In the end I had better luck just applying Karen Pryor's theories to training my cat as this book doesn't provide much specific clear step by step instruction and the techniques it did provide weren't very useful. If I could get half my money back in exchange for the book, I would take it. Recommend reading Karen Pryor's books-they're a lot more in-depth, scientific and interesting. You will learn a lot more about what makes your pet do the things it does and how to control it's behaviors-to some degree-you know a cat is still a cat no matter how much training you provide or kitty cookies you bribe it with!

Cat Training in 10 MinutesDec 11, 2009 I have been clicker training my cat and this book gave me insights on how to get behaviors I was unable to get with other books by showing me hand positions and other tips and tricks on how to achieve what I wanted. Don't think you can't train a cat. They get addicted! My kitten found the clicker the other day and went nuts just to OWN it to tear around the house, but in the end, he wound up putting it at my feet. When I didn't respond, he jumped up and put it on my lap. Cats want something to accomplish and, since we discourage them from hunting, learning behaviors is a positive outlet for what we DON'T want them to practice. Just one behavior, the first: TARGET you can teach immediately, and you will be able to put your cat where-ever you need. This alone could save a life.
It's so much easier than you can imagine...and rewarding. Your cat will actually understand what you want....and since my cat doesn't speak English, this form of communication actually elicits a bond he displays with affection after he gets over the fact that we're done with that lesson. He can go longer than me. He sulks when I put the clicker away, and then I get unsolicited kisses.
If you are even CONSIDERING clicker training, you should own this book. It makes the lesson plan very straight-forward, easy to achieve and you can go at your own pace. The great thing about clickers are that you teach when you want. You don't have to have a rigid schedule to achieve your goals. Go at your own pace, build on each session as you build your relationship, and most of all, have fun!

Short and very sweetNov 11, 2009 This is an excellent book on cat training. I've been working with my cat based on information from dog-training websites, and I'm delighted to finally have instructions specific to cats (yes, there are differences). This book takes you step by step through teaching a cat to do almost anything, including walking on a leash and sit/stay. The behaviors are presented in concise, manageable sections, broken down into steps when necessary, and illustrated with very clear photos. I would have given it 6 stars if Amazon had that many.
